My Dad Writes for SNL
A new dawn is upon us, and I have seemed to seep lower into society. Just a breaking news story, from the swagger that is my social life, I met a girl at a bar back in January by handing her a napkin note that said “Hello. Would you like to go on an intriguing and exotic vaction? Yes, no, I don’t like to fly”. Anyway, we have kept in touch and occasionally met for drinks…a few weeks ago she asked for my screenname, so she could chat while at work.
Fast forward to this morning. I IMed her, “When I get an email at work from a female who I do not know, I search for her on facebook. Her physical attributes qualify whether or not I respond, and do business with her.” She responded with “Who wrote that? That sounds like Deep thoughts by jack handy”. I immediately responded with “My dad was a writer for SNL, he came up with Deep thoughts.”
I have spent the last hour convincing her of the truth in this statement, and stating how my dad would take the train from Wilmington, DE to NYC for meetings and rehearsals. “As a boy, I would love going with my dad to rehearsals. It was so fun to meet the likes of darrel hammond, jimmy fallon, horatio sanz, ana gasteyer, norm mcdonald, jay mohr and Jim Bruer…the cast of the mid 90s will never be topped in my opinion”
The fact that my dad is a successful attorney will not come to the surface, Sorry I’m Not Sorry.
